I usually start with a lighter shade working up to a darker colour overlapping with texture.
As each section is carefully blended, I normally incorporate a dash of Himalayan Sea Salt for an added tactile texture.
Hummingbird Fun Facts
There are hundreds of different types of these colourful little species, found all over North and South America; hence why they are so fun to paint.
Impressively ranging from the blazing red-orange throat, to the incredible iridescent magenta (mauvish-crimson), the colours are widespread and radiant regardless of the type of species.
Spectrum of hues
These guys are certainly my favorite little birds to paint, due to the impressive array of colour spectrum depending on the species.
Bringing this little fella to life on paper, truly is tremendous, no matter what colours are used.
Finishing off with a glowing touch, I add my favorite product: Gold shimmery pigment to further enhance this painting, with a sprinkle of Himalayan sea salt for added texture.
Lets get started...
Making connections...
From an Artist point of view, the wonderful world of watercolour is one of the most magical, therapeutic and satisfying types of paint.
From the moment I choose my colour scheme, to the finishing touches, I am deeply connecting individually with each piece.
